Bill Pelham, President of Doubleagle
Golf, is a former PGA Tour Professional (1976-1982). He competed
in over 100 PGA Tour events, including two U.S. Opens, two British
Opens, and the PGA Championship.
Bill Pelham has worked closely with nationally recognized players
and golf instructors, some of them members of Golf's
Hall of Fame. They include Jack Burke, Jr., Jimmy Demaret, Jay
Hebert, Dave Marr, Harvey Penick, Betsy Cullen, Claude Harmon,
Dick Harmon, and Butch Harmon.
Bill is still active on the Champions Tour, and
is both an Associate Member of that tour, as well as a member
of the PGA of America. He assists numerous businesses who use
golf as a tool to enhance client relations, and has played
a vital
role in several large charity golf tournaments, including the
"Three Amigos Charity Golf Tournament", hosted by Jim Nantz
of CBS Sports, and Fred Couples and Blaine McAllister of the
PGA Tour.
Mr. Pelham contributed to "The Houston Sports News"
as a golf columnist for seven years. You can read many of these
and other articles in the Published Works section of this web site. He left in 2002 to focus his writing
in other mediums. In addition to completing his first book,
he was asked by the PGA Tour to write a story about Champions
Golf Club for the 2003 Tour Championship program. Additionally,
he is collaborating with Terry McGowan on a book about the
birth of the Senior Tour and The Legends of Golf.
Bill has been recognized as a
contributing author in the popular first edition of "Chicken
Soup For The Golfer's Soul". The second edition of "Chicken
Soup for the Golfer's Soul", which was released last summer,
also features a contribution from Mr. Pelham. Both of these
books found there way into many golfer's stockings this past
Christmas and autographed copies are available in our ProShop.
Bill is currently affliliated with Cypress Lakes G.C., as
Champions Tour Representative, and uses the facility exclusively
for his
private instruction.
Golf
Accomplishments
With rounds of 67-66-73-70-71-71 = 420, four of which were
played on Pinehurst #2, Bill finished fifth in the largest qualifying
school in PGA Tour history. Other qualifiers in the school included
eventual Tour winners: Curtis Strange, Wayne Levi, Tim Simpson,
Jack Renner, D.A. Weibring, Tom Valentine, and Phil Hancock.
Bill led four of the six rounds played, finishing only three
shots behind medalist Phil Hancock.

Competed in 1980 and 1982 British Opens
Competed in 1980 PGA Championship
Competed in seven 'major' Amateur Championships
Jointly held the course record at Champions G.C. Cypress Creek
course (63) for 25 years, until Jim Furyk shot one better
in
the 2001 Tour Championship. Chad Campbell lowered the record
yet another stroke in the 2003 Tour Championship.
